RYA Navigation Courses

Basic Navigation and Safety Course

Rya Navigation TrainingThis is a new course aimed at anyone who takes to the water, that feels that a basic understanding of navigation and safety is important.

It is also important that you have an awareness of the environment within which your activity is taking place.

We are finding that this course appeals to those that own RIB’s, small powerboats and yachts. This may include sea anglers, divers and personal watercraft users.

 

Assumed Knowledge – None

 

Duration - 2 Days

 

RYA Dayskipper Theory Course

This course introduces the skills needed to safely navigate and skipper a boat. Throughout the course you will learn aspects of chartwork, ropework, rules of the road and safety. This course provides an excellent pre-requisite before going on to complete the RYA Dayskipper practical certificate.

This course can be completed over 5 days, 3 weekends or over 22 weeks as winter evening class.

RYA Yachtmaster Theory Course

This course picks up where the Dayskipper course left off. It continues to develop the skills needed as your practical experience grows. It is highly recommended if working towards Yachtmaster or Coastal Skipper qualifications. The emphasis is now on expanding your knowledge base across a range of subjects including chartwork, lights, buoyage, meteorology and rules of the road.

This course can be completed over 7 days, 4 weekends or over 22 weeks as winter evening class.

Assumed Knowledge – Competent to Dayskipper Theory Level.

RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory Course

The Yachtmaster Ocean theory course unravels the art of the sextant and aims to give you the knowledge to plan ocean passages worldwide whilst taking into account ocean meteorology.

This course will be offered over 22 weeks as a winter class, although can be run on demand.
