Alexander ‘Bug’ Spencer – Director

I’ve been sailing for nearly 18 years, I have spent a good part of these years dinghy racing, I started sailing Mirrors, toppers and lasers at Largs Sailing Club, before moving onto team racing at university.

After completing my degree at university, I gained Yachting was something that I started to do seriously after I left university, I have sailed a range of yachts in various locations from Scotland, the Solent, Canaries, the Maldives and the Carribean. Whilst in the Carribean I completed a passage navigated solely by sextant.

I have been employed at the Scottish National Watersports Centre for the past 9 years, throughout this time I have gained a wide range of experience teaching. I have recently qualified as a Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat Examiner.

Debbie’ Debs’ Spencer – Director

I started sailing at Largs Sailing club when I was 8 years old and instantly fell in love with the water. As my sailing progressed I joined the Scottish Sailing squad, the experience gained here allowed me to then join the British Olympic Squad. I was part of this squad for 6 years and competed worldwide.

Whilst part of this squad I completed a Sports Science degree at Edinburgh University.

Throughout this time I was ranked no 1 in the UK for 3 years and won a gold medal at the pre-Olympics.

After leaving this squad, I started working at the Scottish National centre, here I was able to gain extensive experience teaching a wide range of clients.
